Early Learning Centre
EMCO Building is excited and proud to announce the successful completion of the North Perth School of Early Learning project.
This unique building integrates new and old with the heritage listed 1907 North Perth Police Station transitioning seamlessly into the sophisticated, three story, state of the art early learning facility.
The newly constructed, high spec’d childcare centre features, balcony play areas, quiet rooms, nursing areas, a commercial kitchen, administrative offices and a vehicle lift to access the basement carpark.
The raw material pallet chosen by the design team includes insitu concrete finished surfaces, recycled jarrah decking, galvanized steel and glass. All bought to life with the external playground’s elements of grass, and pits, water play areas, fruit trees and mature tree trunks.
The 1907 Police Station underwent extensive structural strengthening to allow for wider openings in the walls throughout as well as the numerous skylights allowing natural light to pour into previously dimly lit heritage building.
The elevated outdoor play areas are truly like no other, with tree trunks installed floor to ceiling ranging from 4-8 metres in length, sand pits, water play areas, grass and even a skywalk suspended over the 2 level void.
With all that said this project was not without its fair serve of challenges, with the confines of a tight residential environment, tree protection zones, stringent heritage regulations and insitu concrete finishes which the project team worked tirelessly to ensure the deliverables were met and exceeded.
