New Student Hub
The scope of works incorporated refurbishments, alterations, and fit-outs to the existing redundant facilities at the centre of the South Street Campus.
The new facilities create a dynamic, flexible, and adaptive community place to socialise, refresh, engage, and co-work at the centre of the campus where students meet, eat, socialise, study informally, and gain access to important support services.
Extensive works were undertaken across several existing buildings to link and create a new Student Hub consisting of food and beverage tenancies, commercial areas, student study and support areas, along with external associated areas. Works also include a bookshop and separate refurbishment and fit-out of the existing tavern (including a new commercial kitchen). The fit-out was of a very high quality and allows for future adaptation as the university’s needs change. The internal spaces have been linked through extensive hard and soft scaped outdoor areas to create winter and summer gardens.
All works were carried out in a fully operational environment requiring detailed management planning to facilitate the coordination of consultation activities, public vehicular movements and student pedestrian traffic.
