Melville Senior High School

Melville Senior High School

13 Sep 2019

EMCO Building has entered the finishing straight with this impressive addition to Melville Senior High School. The main structure is complete with all doors and windows installed and wall cladding and service installations nearing completion.
The sprung timber flooring to the main theatre is complete and, along with the completion of the retractable seating, has allowed us to progress the acoustic timber veneer wall linings.
Theatre supporting areas (including Foyer, Green Room, Store, Staff Study, Gallery - entrance area from the existing school to the Theatre) are all defined, with wall and ceiling lining well progressed and final fit off expected soon.
The Theatre fit out works including lighting bars, projector set up, Stage drapes/curtains are expected to be complete by 20th September.
Once the fit off to the main theatre is complete we will carry out the final sanding and polishing of the timber flooring which will mark the final step in that area and will leave only final commissioning and cleaning before the auditorium can be handed over to the School.
The external works include a connecting ramp and exposed aggregate pavement as well as some soft landscaping. These works are relatively minor and have already commenced and will be completed in good time to meet our PC date of late October.
In the next few weeks the EMCO site amenities will be removed from site and the existing school oval reinstatement works will commence.
We look forward to handing the finished building over to the School in the near future and seeing the staff, pupils and parents get the full benefit of this great new facility.
