EMCO Building is excited and proud to announce the successful completion of the North Perth School of Early Learning project.
The state of the art, School of Early Learning project showcases the integration of new and old from the heritage listed, 1907 North Perth Police Station, seamlessly transitioned into this sophisticated three-storey building.
Features included in the newly constructed, high spec’d childcare centre includes balcony outdoor play areas, quiet rooms, nursing areas, a commercial kitchen, administration offices and a vehicle lift to access the basement car park.
The raw material pallet, chosen by the design team, includes in situ concrete finished surfaces, recycled jarrah decking, galvanized steel and glass. The childcare centre is further brought to life with the elements of grass, sandpits, a water play area, fruit trees and mature tree trunks in the external playground.
The 1907 Police Station endured extensive structural strengthening to allow for wider openings in the walls, as well as the numerous skylights that enable natural light to pour into previously dimly lit heritage building.
The elevated outdoor play areas are truly like no other. With tree trunks installed floor to ceiling ranging from 4-8 metres in length, sand pits, water play areas, grass and even a skywalk suspended over the 2 level void.
This project had its fair share of challenges which included a tight residential environment, tree protection zones, stringent heritage regulations and in situ concrete finishes. Nonetheless, the project team worked tirelessly to make sure the deliverables were met and exceeded.
