Works are progressing well on the new Performing Arts Theatre at Melville Senior High School. We started on site in late December with a target completion at the end of September this year.
Recently all Theatre concrete slab on ground works have been completed, following installation of the white concrete panels which were manufactured off site.
The installation of the Durra Purlin/ Panel ceiling system to the Theatre area proved to be quite difficult, due to June being a very wet month. The Durra Panel ceiling cannot be installed during wet weather and so for several days the roof area had to be protected by tarpaulins. Once completed we were able to install the roof safety mesh and roof metal sheeting which is currently nearing complete.
Mechanical works are progressing well, with the main theatre spiral ducts and mezzanine plant equipment mostly installed. The majority of the main theatre wall framing/base lining is installed with lower level west side Foyer/rooms partitions and first fix services works progressing.
Externally, the limestone retaining walls are installed with the exposed aggregate concrete pavement areas and feature screen walls being laid throughout July.
The new Prop store extension is almost complete, with lock up being achieved and ceilings flushed and sanded – ready for painting.
We look forward to giving you more details as the project progresses with the next major milestone being the retractable seat installation.
