EMCO Building has been engaged by the Department of Finance [Building Management and Works] to deliver a new 300+ seat Performing Arts Centre for Ballajura Community College.
The new Auditorium connects into the existing performing arts building by way of two separate corridor entrances, forming a central courtyard between new and existing buildings.
EMCO are also required to retrofit the existing performing arts building with a new operable wall, transforming the existing performance space into two independent classrooms when in use.
EMCO’s scope includes the construction of the outer shell of tilt-up concrete panels, steel roof frame, façade of interlocking metal panels, sprung timber floor with performance vinyl top layer throughout the facility, detailed installation of internal linings to meet the stringent acoustic requirements and installation of a state-of-the-art audio-visual system.
The project requires extensive planning to ensure the safe construction of the building’s key elements within a live school environment with minimal impact on the school’s stakeholders and the existing performing arts building which remains operational for the duration of the project.
We are currently well underway with the construction of the buildings structure with anticipated completion due for the end of the year.
