Works are progressing well on the new Performing Arts Theatre at Melville Senior High School. We started on site in late December for a target completion in October this year.
Stage 1, which comprised the refurbishment of the existing toilet blocks, was primarily completed over the summer school break and was handed over to the School in February.
The new limestone retaining wall has been installed north of the new Theatre building and the main Auditorium concrete slab poured, ready to receive the white architectural concrete panels. The panels will mark a significant milestone in the construction of the Theatre and erection will commence mid-April with structural steel work to commence after Easter. We currently anticipate having the roof sheeting and Cladding installed by the end of May.
The white concrete panels have been manufactured off site and are stored ready for delivery to site.
Running concurrently with the new Auditorium we are constructing the new prop store extension with the concrete slab and new walkway pad footings already poured and steelwork commenced.
We look forward to giving you more details once the panels and steel is up and the internal fit out has commenced.
