EMCO Wins Churchlands SHS Contract

WA commercial building company and property developer EMCO Building has won the contract to deliver a $7.45 million music auditorium to Churchlands Senior High School.
The project is the first major build for the school in recent history and will double as the new entry statement to the school.
EMCO Building general manager Ron Keogh said government construction contracts continued to be sought after work for building companies.
“Private contracts are slowly making their way back on to the market as the economy strengthens, which is great news for the industry,” Mr Keogh said.
“However, government contracts continue to be a main source of work for construction companies and remain highly competitive.
“Winning projects like the music auditorium at Churchlands Senior High School is testament to EMCO’s strength as a leading builder in the education sector.”
Mr Keogh said whilst the dollar value of this particular project was not high, the project was significant to the client.
“We understand this project is of massive importance to the school and will require careful project management from our team as we construct the auditorium while the school continues to operate,” he said.
“EMCO Building has extensive construction experience working on live sites in the education sector and we place a great deal of emphasis on safety on all of our projects, particularly at schools where traffic volume is high.”
The new music auditorium will seat 504 people and will include teaching areas, music studios, communal facilities, a choral studio and external landscaping works.
The project is commissioned by the Department of Building Management and Works and is forecast for completion in early-to-mid 2012.
EMCO Building has also won the contract to deliver a $3.2 million extensive refurbishment to existing buildings at Kolbe Catholic College. The refurbishment will take place while the school remains fully operational. The additional buildings will provide new arts and home economics precincts, an additional staff area and an open area.
This refurbishment will be EMCO Building’s fourth project at Kolbe Catholic College.
